Everything you always wanted to know about The I.C.E.*

*but were afraid to ask

Still looking for something we didn’t mention?
Here are some tips arisen from nice RAQs – Rarely Asked Questions we collected over the years!

Is The I.C.E. a timed race?
The I.C.E. is a concours of elegance, not a speed race. And we love stopwatches, but for once we will not use them to record lap times; in fact, the ice ring is so spectacular and scenic that we encourage all participants to enjoy every single moment of this magical parade in the most laid-back mood. Forget about time, slow-down and smile to the camera.

I am applying with my collector car to participate in the event. In case I am invited, should I bring a helmet?
The use of a helmet is not mandatory for the free laps on the frozen lake, even if “motorsports can be dangerous”. This said, feel free to bring yourvintage racing helmet for that extra Jacky Ickx-esque allure, or just pack your trapper hat if you look forward to feeling the breeze on your skin and snow on your face!

What’s the fastest machine that has ever roared on the frozen lake during The I.C.E.?
You won’t see it coming, but that’s not a car. It’s the Beechcraft 18 that put on an airshow during the 2023 edition, reaching top speeds that made the stunning Maserati 420M/58 “Eldorado” – winning the Open Wheels category in the same year – terribly slow… Both sounded terrific, though. Goosebumps.

How close can I get to the Concours’ cars?
Not at touching distance, but more than enough to count every single spike in their special tyres and to feel the warm air coming out of their engine bays.

Are dogs allowed at the event venue?
Four legs are accepted, just like four wheels are. Just make sure they won’t suffer from the cold, if walking on ice is not their cup of tea.

Despite all the efforts we made since 5am this morning in order to have an 100% ready lake Village tomorrow, due to the exceptional snowfall occurred in the past 16 hours pouring more than 60cm of fresh snow, we are sorry to inform you that the event has been cancelled for safety reasons
