| They say courage is a natural instinct. But when you think of people coming from literally the other side of the world to challenge the elements, unafraid to drive with nothing more than a few centimetres thickness of icy water beneath their seat, that instinct turns into defiance.
The I.C.E. participants are truly unique. Not so many car collectors would be willing to take their jewels out of their tastefully furnished garages; but they dare to, and they do so with a humble star’s panache and an unmatched camaraderie. It’s that same captivating rebellious spirit that has always defined St. Moritz – not by chance, a place that gave birth to many extreme divertissements, like the famous Cresta Run.
In other words, The I.C.E. participants embody the very ‘Spirit of St. Moritz’.
That’s why, from the very beginning, The I.C.E. has dedicated an award to the driver and car inspiring the same timeless grace, glamourous flair, and classy attitude defining these people. This year, the trophy takes special value, having been designed by one of the most charismatic personalities embodying this spirit: artist Rolf Sachs.
Through this award, which is also a gift to The I.C.E. and the town itself, Rolf Sachs celebrates the unique, enduring, ’Spirit of St. Moritz’, and we cannot wait to see both the drivers and the audience join the celebrations on ice! |
